I don't know about you, but it feels like it's already been here for weeks. The germs have already started their party too! 🤦🏼‍♀️

There is plenty we can do to beat the germs though. So I thought I'd jump in and give you my top 5 Winter Wellness tips, and let you know I am offering quick 20 minute Immune Consults for anyone who wants to get access to practitioner only supplement support.

1. VITAMIN D ☀️

If you haven't had your Vitamin D checked in a while, I highly recommend that you do. If you live down south like me, we get limited sun exposure over winter and our Vitamin D status declines rapidly. Vitamin D is crucial for a healthy immune response, so we want to keep it nice and high. Supplementation over Winter is usually essential for most.

2. BONE BROTH 🍖

If you haven't gotten into making both broth or buying the concentrated stuff, your missing out! It's loaded with minerals, proteins, collagen, gelatin, glucosamine and flavour to add to all your cooking. It is particularly good for gut health, which is where 70% of our immune system is located.

3. SLEEP 😴

Winter is for slowing down and hibernating. Use this time to rest and recharge so you have more in the tank to fight the germs. Sleep is where our body heals and repairs, and is super important for proper immune function (and for kids growth). Give yourself permission to take the foot off the accelerator over winter, your body will love you for it.

4. PROBIOTIC 🦠

Good gut microbiome is essential for proper immune function. While you may need antibiotics over winter to kill the bad germs, sadly they kill off the good germs too.  It's essential to follow up with a good probiotic that will restore gut flora. We can also prescribe specific Immune strains too.

5. VITAMIN C & ZINC 🍊

The usual suspects -Zinc and Vitamin C -always need to be included in Immune support! They are actually involved in building our white bloods cells, which fight off infection. So, eat ALL the colourful fruit and veggies for Vitamin C, and you get a good dose of Zinc in animal meat, seafood and eggs. Both are great to supplement over winter though, as we often have higher demand, and most people aren't eating enough veggies.
